The White House has responded to a controversial image recently posted by actor Mark Hamill.
In a post on Bluesky, Mark Hamill shared an image depicting Donald Trump in a grave alongside the words “If Only.” The image quickly drew backlash online after it spread across social media, particularly from Trump supporters who criticized the actor. The White House has now also responded to the controversy.
The White House’s Rapid Response 47 account shared a screenshot of Hamill’s post and the image in question. In its caption, the account referred to the actor as “one sick individual.” It also suggested that rhetoric like this contributes to political violence, stating: “These Radical Left lunatics just can’t help themselves. This kind of rhetoric is exactly what has inspired three assassination attempts in two years against our President,” referring to Trump.
It wasn’t only the White House that reacted to Hamill’s post. Congressman Randy Fine also responded, calling him “a sad, deranged man.” He added, “Thankfully he posted this disgusting garbage on BlueSky so almost nobody saw it. But let’s be clear: this kind of vile, unhinged rhetoric from Hollywood elites is exactly what has fueled three assassination attempts against President Trump. It’s time to hold these celebrities accountable for the violence they inspire.”

The post sparked reactions online. Many viewers agreed with the criticism directed at Mark Hamill over the post. Some users wrote messages supporting the White House response, with one saying, “Enough is enough! Protect 45—47.” Another commenter added, “Perhaps it’s time for law enforcement to pay Mark Hamill a friends visit and politely advise him that he should be wishing all of his fellow humans well. President Trump is trying to make life better for all Americans, including Hamill. It’s time to start being kind—make peace.” Some users even brought in unrelated political figures, with a few attempting to link former President Barack Obama to the situation, citing Hamill’s recent meeting with him.
More users criticized the actor over the post, with some arguing that it could have wider social consequences. One person wrote, “Mark Hamill knows exactly what he’s doing. If you read the comments in the Bluesky thread, it’s inspiring many mentally ill individuals to fantasize about this scenario—and even call for it. I’ve even had leftists calling for it in my thread this morning. Sick—and in some cases, potentially criminal. Our country is in real trouble.”
The White House’s response marked the latest development in the ongoing aftermath of Mark Hamill’s controversial post, which continued to spark debate and criticism across social media.
