A new light is being shed on a bombshell interview. Netflix has released the first trailer for Scoop, a dramatization of the BBC interview with Prince Andrew that humiliated him and pried about his relationship with Jeffrey Epstein (seen below). Gillian Anderson plays interviewer Emily Maitlis, and Rufus Sewell plays the Prince.
The short footage we receive shows the planning that went into obtaining the interview. By the end, we get a “Your royal heinous” from the X-Files star.
Scoop Trailer Brings a Netflix Spin on the Bombshell BBC Interview with Prince Andrew
The Newsnight special was released in 2019. It brought immense pressure on Prince Andrew for his connections to the sex offender, who had many ties to various powerful and wealthy people around the world. After those events, he would settle a suit by accuser Virginia Giuffre in 2022.
The film was based on the memoir by former Newsnight producer Sam McAlister, who will be portrayed by Billie Piper. McAlister was the one to help BBC obtain the interview and the material used to question the Prince. Alongside the two leads, they will all be joined by Romola Garai, Keeley Hawes, and Aoife Hinds.
Phillip Martin directed from a script penned by Peter Moffat. Creating a dramatization of the royal family is not a first for the director. Directing and executive producing Netflix’s The Crown has built an experience perfect for Scoop as he recreates the interview with Prince Andrew. It is also a reunion for The Crown as Anderson starred as Margaret Thatcher, Richard Goulding played Edward Adeane, and Tim Bentinck played John Betjeman.
Hilary Salmon, Radford Neville, and Sanjay Singhal serve as producers.
Scoop will be released on the streaming service on April 5.
