Warner Bros. Pictures has released a new DC trailer entitled The World Needs Heroes. Along with clips from The Batman, the trailer features new footage from Black Adam, The Flash, and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. According to Variety, the footage from Black Adam marks our first look at the Justice Society of America. This includes Pierce Brosnan as Doctor Fate, Aldis Hodge as Hawkman, Noah Centineo as Atom Smasher, and Quintessa Swindell as Cyclone. As most already know, Dwayne ‘The Rock” Johnson is starring as Black Adam. The film has been in development for over ten years, and it will be released on July 29.
Entertainment Weekly reports that the trailer also features a voiceover by Michael Keaton, who is reprising his role as Bruce Wayne/Batman in The Flash. We hear him ask Barry Allen (Ezra Miller), “You could go to any timeline, any universe. Why fight to save this one?” As he says these words, we see Barry standing behind a woman who appears to be his mother. This seems to confirm that the DC comic event Flashpoint is the inspiration for the film, featuring Barry traveling back in time to stop his mother’s murder which ends up causing chaos in the time-space continuum. The film will also star Sasha Calle as Supergirl, and Michael Shannon will reprise his role as General Zod from Man of Steel. The film will also mark the final appearance of Ben Affleck as Bruce Wayne. The Flash will be released in theaters on Nov. 4.
We also get a brief look at Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, with Jason Momoa overlooking a valley and sitting on Aquaman’s throne. Amber Heard will appear in the film as Mera, Willem Dafoe is starring as Nuidis Vulko, and Patrick Wilson will play Aquaman’s half-brother Orm Marius. The film will be released on Dec. 16.
