A New York woman reported that an unknown man stole from her community food pantry at night. Not only that, but the food she provided was also dumped into a nearby trash bin. The incident left the woman feeling angry and disappointed.
The story was shared on the woman’s TikTok account, acabforcutet2. It got over half a million views, and many commenters were condemning the thief.
The New York woman said that the incident happened several days ago, and unfortunately, even now, there was no update regarding the thief. She said that this was obviously intentional since there was no chance anyone could mistake her food pantry for trash.
She had put clear signs on it to make sure that everyone could understand that it was a food pantry. Even if someone did mistake it, she argued that once she had made it clear that it was hers and a food pantry, the thief should’ve returned the stolen item. She said that her plan was to replace the missing pantry, paint it bright green, and add even more glaring signs to make it stand out.
She also planned to secure it to the ground to prevent anyone from stealing it. Despite this setback, the woman wanted to continue helping her community and encourage others to contribute to filling up the food pantry.
New York Woman’s Food Pantry Theft Breaks Hearts
Users who saw the video were understandably upset for the New York woman. “People suck,” one user wrote. Others also agreed that the man was obviously a thief and knew well that what he stole was a food pantry.
“The pantry might have been repurposed as a tool cabinet in his garage. I suggest for the new pantry that you install an AirTag in between wood panels so it’s completely unseen, can’t be easily removed,” another commenter suggested.
Others said that the New York woman might need to pour concrete and bolt the pantry down because that would be the only reasonable way to stop thieves. Another asked if the woman had reported this to the police so they could try to track down the man.
Some users expressed sadness at the news, saying that seeing someone trying to do good and being treated so terribly was horrible. “Why do I feel like this was someone who would never ask for help, let alone accept help, even if they needed it. This is so so sad and I wish people didn’t treat good-natured people trying to spread positivity and love and care this way. It just spreads negativity!” one TikToker wrote.
Regardless, the New York woman was still trying to do good despite the thief taking away her food pantry. For now, let’s hope that her next one won’t be going anywhere.
