After Bowser storms the palace and gains the star he is seeking he says, “Who’s gonna stop me.” It’s at this point that the iconic Super Mario music and Chris Pratt’s Mario is launched into mushroom field where he meets Keegan-Michael Key’s Toad. From there they begin their way t the mushroom kingdom.
‘The Super Mario Bros Movie’ Teaser Features Luigi As Well
Considering the that this is The Super Mario BROS Movie (emphasis added), the teaser wouldn’t be complete without the appearance of Luigi, which we get at the very end of the trailer. We see the iconic plumber (voiced by Charlie Day) in green being chased by a mob of ghost turtles, an obvious nod to the iconic Luigi’s Mansion franchise. From what Nintendo Direct has shown us with this teaser, The Super Mario Bros. Movie is looking to be a big tribute to everything that is loved about the long-running video game franchise.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, this will be Mario’s first time on the big screen since the infamous live-action 1993 film, which is widely considered one of the worst movies ever made. Gizmodo explains that the film was so bad that Nintendo shut the doors to other studio films except for the many Pokemon movies.
