A truck driver in Dunseith, North Dakota, became concerned after spotting dogs inside an enclosed trailer at a gas station on an approximately 80-degree day. The TikToker recorded the woman transporting them as she opened the trailer and appeared to check something inside before eventually driving away.
Some commenters were shocked that a pet owner would do something like this, calling for the authorities to be involved. Others attempted to justify the situation by defining the type of trailer the woman likely has.
The video above was posted by a truck driver who explains he had just woken up for the day at a gas station in Dunseith, North Dakota. When he looked out into the gas station, he noticed a woman opening a white enclosed trailer from the back, revealing crates with dogs inside.
The footage provides only a limited view of the trailer’s interior, and no windows are visible from the angle shown. At least two dogs can be seen inside crates, including one that appears to be panting heavily.
As the dogs sit inside their cages, the woman can be seen looking at her phone and moving the door of the trailer in a fanning motion. She can also be seen repeatedly going into the trailer and interacting with something inside.
The driver speculated that the woman may have been checking some type of temperature monitor, although the video does not provide a clear enough view to determine what she was handling. The truck driver then says, “She’s messing with something. I don’t know if it’s a little temperature recorder or monitor that she takes out and is looking at it, and then she thinks she is going to cool it down by fanning that door like that a couple of times before she closes it up.”
The woman can then be seen closing the trailer door, finishing putting gas in her vehicle, and driving away. Before the video ends, the driver says he contacted authorities about what he witnessed. It is unclear whether officers located the vehicle or determined whether the dogs were in danger.
Viewers Debate Whether Dogs Were in Danger
Not everyone believed the dogs were in danger. Several commenters claimed the trailer appeared to be designed for transporting animals and could have ventilation or temperature-control equipment that wasn’t visible in the video. However, the exact trailer model and whether any cooling system was operating could not be confirmed from the footage alone. One person wrote, “That’s a cargo mate trailer, they usually have air flow and temperature control. If she stops frequently to check on the pets they should be fine. She has the pets secure in a crate which is responsible. Obviously she knows what she’s doing.“
Other comments were more critical of the woman in the video, with another person writing, “That’s animal cruelty. She should go to jail. I hope you called the cops.” Similarly, someone else condemned the truck driver himself for only recording, writing, “why do people just record and not do anything.” However, the driver said in the video that he did contact authorities about the situation.
The driver, later posted an update, but it did not confirm whether police located the woman or whether authorities determined the dogs were being transported unsafely.
The short video was enough to alarm thousands of viewers, but it does not show the conditions inside the trailer once the door was closed. Without confirmation from authorities or additional information about the trailer’s ventilation or cooling system, whether the dogs were actually in danger remains unclear.
