This article is over 1 years old and may contain outdated information.

Territory Purification in Once Human sounds like a monumental undertaking, but like many other wordings in the game, it’s probably another translation error. Territory Purification is mostly just a short base defense. It happens when you purify your Cortexes or Echo Stones (PvP), which will then attract hostile Deviants who will try to stop the process (by destroying your base). It’s one of the most nerve-wracking activities in the game, but if done right, it can be rewarding and fun.

Getting those Cortexes to purify and crack open for Starchrom is the easy part. Cortexes are given like candy during quests, POI clearings, and participating in events. So it’s not hard to have Cortexes at the ready.

Echo Stones, a PvP variant of Cortexes are harder to come by but offer more rewards. You can get them by watching for purple/red falling stars or light beams (preferably at night) and scrambling to the location. Expect heavy PvP in such areas.

In any case, once you have either your Cortexes or Echo Stones, it’s time to build the device that will purify them.

Unlock and Build the Stardust Resonant Filter

  1. Open your build menu, and bring up the building options.
  2. Go to the Facilities tab, and then to Function Facilities.
  3. You’ll find the Stardust Resonant Filter there; it needs the following materials:
    • 20x Glass
    • 30x Metal Scraps
    • 20x Rubber
    • 10x Copper Ingot
    • 10x Acid

The Copper requirement means you can almost build it as soon as you get out of the tutorial area. Once you have it built, you will want to test out how much you can handle. I don’t recommend performing this activity before Level 15 as the minimum enemy Level is 15, and they’re tougher than the usual mobs.

Simply walk up to the Stardust Resonant Filter and place your Cortexes. You can set the amount, but I don’t recommend putting too much in your first time. The level and number of Cortexes determine how many enemies will spawn to attack your purifier or how hard they will be.

It’s almost mandatory to set up base defenses like turrets or traps, unless you have weapons that can make quick work of enemy waves.

Territory Purification in Once Human will usually last a few minutes and during that duration, you need to defend not just the Stardust Resonant Filter but also your base. Sometimes, the enemies get stuck in your structures, and their poor pathfinding will force them to destroy whatever is blocking their way toward your Stardust Resonant Filter.

If you’re in a PvP server, the Cortexes you get from Echo Stone drops will also open you and your base for PvP, so be wary of other players who are looking to grief you and raid your base. You can do the same to their base though.
