Outrage erupted online after a real estate business owner in Virginia threatened to kill a cat because it had sat on his car.

A concerned community member shared screenshots of a post they said was written by Drew Anderson, the owner of a real estate business called Anderson Realty. According to the community member, the post contained threats to kill a cat because it had been leaving paw prints on his car.

The post, which was shared in screenshots online, included a photo of the cat alongside the alleged threat. In the post, the business owner warned that the cat’s owner should keep the animal at home, saying that he would kill the pet if it went near his vehicle again.

The post read, “PSA if you live anywhere around me and this is your cat you need to keep it at home. I will take care of it if it cones [sic] back it is getting on our vehicles and I do not plan on it living to get on any again. Thanks carry on now.”

Another screenshot showed the business’s Facebook page, which displayed a 20 percent recommendation rating. After the post circulated online, the page received additional negative reviews, along with angry comments and reactions from members of the community. As of now, the business owner has not publicly addressed the alleged post.

The incident also sparked discussions about the risks faced by outdoor cats. While many people simply shoo cats away if they climb onto vehicles or wander through their property, others may react more aggressively when they feel the animals have damaged or inconvenienced them. Because the alleged threat in this case was made over a cat leaving paw prints on a car, many viewers said it highlighted why they believe cats are often safer indoors. Keeping pet cats inside can help protect them from people who may intentionally harm them. This is as well as other outdoor dangers such as traffic, predators, and accidents.

The video sparked reactions online. Many viewers expressed outrage after seeing the alleged threat made by the Virginia business owner. Several said they hoped the matter would be reported to authorities. “Sure hope the police were informed of this threat,” one person wrote. Another commenter said, “I get it not wanting the cat on your car. But how do you own a real estate business but not own a garage? Or at least own a car cover? How do you own a real estate business and a cat walking on your car is your biggest issue?”

Other viewers used the incident to encourage cat owners to keep their pets indoors for their safety. “On one hand, keep your cats indoors. You getting a pet shouldn’t be a community effort, not to mention the ethical implications of letting cats free roam. On the other, this is the kind of thing some psycho says when they’re waiting for an excuse to kill an animal and is not even a remotely proportional response to having a cat on your property. People like this existing are even more reason to keep your cats inside,” one person wrote. Another commenter said, “In case anybody needed another reason to keep your cats indoors. [Expletive] like this plus cars, coyotes, etc. are why outdoor cats have significantly shorter lives than indoor cats.”

The post sparked a conversation about the importance of treating animals humanely and protecting pets from harm. This is even when they wander onto private property. It also led to broader discussions about how a business owner’s online behavior can affect public trust. Many viewers also argued that threatening posts on social media can have serious consequences for a company’s reputation.
