The Overwatch 2 Halloween Terror event is almost upon us and the recent trailer will tell fans what they can expect from the update, which includes some scary new skins. The way by which Blizzard is making content available for players confirms some concerns people had about how Overwatch 2 will handle such releases from now on.
The Halloween Terror event originally started for Overwatch back in 2016 and brought a ton of spooky skins and cosmetics to the game. It also brought with it some new game modes as well like Junkenstein’s Revenge. Blizzard already announced that the event would be making a comeback this year from October 25 to November 8. The new mode will be bringing a new spin on the mode, however, called Junkenstein’s Revenge: Wrath of the Bride, giving the creepy new Sombra the main role.
Blizzard has now released a new trailer that provides a sneak peek at what this year’s Halloween update will hold for Overwatch 2. The trailer shows new skins for a lot of characters, like Anna’s Mummy outfit and Sigma’s appropriate Flying Dutchman costume. Other skins include the Witch Kiriko and Executioner Junker Queen skins. Kiriko has a classic witch hat and has spell-casting cards as well.
In a post on the official Overwatch 2 website, the developers went into more detail about the Halloween update. It mentions that the new co-op PVE challenge will expand the lore of the Junkenstein mode, and also discussed some of the rewards players will get by completing the challenge. It also mentioned that the Halloween Witch Kiriko bundle will be available in the Overwatch 2 shop.
Overwatch 2 Halloween Update
Fans have expressed some disappointment over Overwatch 2‘s free-to-play structure which might require players to purchase new skins with real money. Fans also were not happy about the potential of reusing old content, which seems to be the case with the Junkenstein event instead of making something new. The Halloween Terror update for Overwatch 2 will probably be received well, but the concerns of free-to-play monitization will probably stick around. Overwatch 2 is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
