Although Overwatch 2 is home to dozens of characters, not all heroes are available from the beginning. Some must be unlocked along the way, so you might not find your main just yet. In the case with Moira she’s a unique support character in the game that leaves many players interested. But do you need to unlock Moira? We’ll tell you everything you need to know about Moira in Overwatch 2, so you can adjust to her abilities once you’re ready to use her.
Unlocking Moira in Overwatch 2
So, you want to play as a mad scientist rather than the wholesome support heroes? Well, you won’t have to do much since Moira is one of the few support characters available to start with in Overwatch 2. She sits among the likes of Lucio and Mercy, so you have a decent pool to choose from for some versatility.
Moira Tips and Abilities in Overwatch 2
Moira may be one of the best support roles in Overwatch 2. She’s certainly adaptable as she does some good damage, but the key is focusing on her support.
Thankfully, she doesn’t have too many abilities to learn. It’s just understanding when and where to use them.
General Moira Abilities
- Biotic Orb: Launches a bouncing sphere to heal nearby allies or damage nearby enemies.
- Fade: Disappear and become invulnerable while moving faster, but you cannot shoot.
Moira Weapons & Ultimate in Overwatch 2
- Biotic Grasp: Deal damage at range with alt-fire on the right hand (purple), and heal allies with primary fire on the left hand (yellow).
- Coalescence: Fires a beam to heal allies and damage enemies.
The best way to play Moira in Overwatch 2 is to stay with the group. Yes, she deals damage, but that’s not her primary role. She must support the team if you want to utilize her abilities properly.
For instance, pair her with close-range fighters like Reaper. Moira’s Biotic Orb is handy at keeping him healed up as he deals out close-range damage with his shotguns.
Also, the Biotic Orb can do some great damage in a tight spot with a low HP enemy. In fact, it may even take them out completely so you can get back to healing your teammates.
Remember to balance Biotic Grasp. Healing takes biotic energy, and that has a slow natural refill. However, dealing damage can refill it faster. So, you must balance out your damage to healing by focusing on your teammates to know what they need. Meanwhile, seek out some low HP enemies to take advantage of to deal out quick damage.
For the ultimate, don’t waste Coalescence on a single opponent. Instead, wait until the team as a whole needs the extra boost as the move heals and damages at the same time. So, you can get some good hits in on some enemies or even eliminate low HP ones.
Something else to keep in mind about Moira in Overwatch 2: she’s squishy. So, don’t pit her against heavy heroes like tanks and expect her to come out on top. Play to her support strengths, and you’re good.
