Overwatch’s latest patch notes focus on only two notable characters – newcomer Ana and Mr. “High Noon” himself, McCree.
Ana, Pharah’s mother, just joined the ranks of characters a few weeks ago. Her latest improvements should help her become a more competitive character to play. Ana’s Biotic Rifle gains a 20% increased rate of fire, and the magazine is increased from eight bullets to ten. In the patch notes, the developer commented, “While Ana has been very well received, she was showing to be a little bit weaker overall. In addition to helping her feel better to play, these changes should also increase and damage output.”
Meanwhile, McCree goes through even more changes in an effort to balance him out. His Peacemaker’s primary fire damage falloff range will decrease by ten meters. However, the primary range remains higher still than it was at launch, and the damage amount doesn’t change from previous patches. In addition, his alternate fire (Fan the Hammer) gains a 15% increased rate of fire. McCree’s Flashbangs also get a slightly shorter recovery time, decreasing from 0.5 to 0.35 seconds.
As always, Overwatch’s latest patch currently applies to only PC players. Both PS4 and Xbox One players will receive these changes at a later time, possibly bundled together in a larger update.
