Pocketpair recently dropped one of the biggest Palworld announcements since the game had its massive Early Access launch. Raid battles are coming to the survival-crafting game. The trailer that was dropped for these raid battles recently introduces the first upcoming raid boss, Bellanoir. Details about what these raid bosses are capable of and what the player will receive, aside from the raid Pal itself, from winning are still vague right now. There is one thing Pocketpair absolutely needs to keep in mind before releasing Bellanoir into Palworld, though, and that’s how accessible these raids will be to solo players.
Palworld’s Raid Boss Accessibility
In general, the idea behind raids of this nature is that they are supposed to be approached cooperatively. It’s players meeting up to take down a big bad boss that would likely be too much for one player to take on alone. The problem is that can be pretty frustrating for players who don’t know anyone else that plays Palworld, have an unstable internet connection and thus typically play offline, or simply prefer the single-player experience of the game.
Bellanoir is going to be the first Pal added into Palworld since the game released into Early Access, which is going to make it a highly sought Pal for players who have been putting a lot of hours into the game in recent months. This Pal being virtually inaccessible to any player that isn’t on a multiplayer server will likely generate some frustration, particularly when considering some of the online troubles the game has had in the past.

Palworld Connectivity Issues
Palworld does boast being able to host up to 32 players at once on a dedicated server (Only for PC players, that is), but in practice, this gave Pocketpair a lot of trouble back when the game first launched. Palworld was an unexpected smash hit, breaking Steam concurrent player records only days after its initial release. That unprecedented level of success is something that even AAA games may have trouble keeping up with in terms of server load, much less Pocketpair, an independent studio suddenly thrust into the spotlight while still mid-development on a game that’s built huge notoriety and plagiarism accusations all at once.
Needless to say, the performance of Palworld suffered as a result. Players attempting multiplayer, even just the standard four-player coop, were having a lot of trouble with disconnections and terrible lag. These problems have been mostly addressed by Pocketpair now, but the patch that brings in Bellanoir will likely simultaneously see a surge of players coming back to the game to experience this major new piece of content. The question is whether or not Pocketpair’s servers will be ready for this strain again, particularly because this feature will result in the vast majority of these players jumping into online coop groups. If they aren’t ready, then the obvious solution is for Bellanoir to be a manageable fight for players to tackle alone and offline.
It’s not like Bellanoir should be easy, that certainly shouldn’t be the case, but some simple damage and health scaling relative to the number of players challenging Bellanoir could go a long way toward making these raid bosses an accessible feature to all players.
