By order of the Peaky Blinders, developer FuturLab has blessed us with new details and the release date of Peaky Blinders: Mastermind.
Peaky Blinders: Mastermind is a puzzle-adventure game based on the multi-award-winning TV show, in collaboration with the team behind Peaky Blinders, Caryn Mandabach Productions.
If you like the idea of guiding the Shelby family through clever time-bending puzzles, then pay attention. Set just before the start of the first season of the show, you join the family’s organisation as they discover a sinister plot to put an end to Tommy’s business. In the game, you must plan your strategy using key members of the family. Everything happens at once, but you’ve got to plan each character’s actions accordingly, and it’s up to you in what order you do it. At your disposal is the powers of time travel. You can rewind and adjust individual actions to line up the perfect sequence of events in order to solve increasingly complex puzzles.
According to James Marsden, Game Director at FuturLab, the game is a creative interpretation of the world the TV show created. “It’s been an honor to be trusted with the Peaky Blinders license,” says Marsden. “our team has created a game that reflects the heart of what makes the show compelling: Tommy Shelby’s ability to manipulate friends, family, and foes in the pursuit of his master plan.”
Caryn Mandabach Productions’ Jamie Glazebrook, the executive producer of all five series of Peaky Blinders, said “The trailer dropped in my inbox, and I watched it five times in a row. It blew me away. And it’s Peaky Blinders through and through. I can’t wait for players to experience this incredible game”.
You’ll get the chance to don the iconic cap on August 20 when the game releases on PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and Steam. Players who pre-order on Steam will get the soundtrack from Feverist for free. Feverist are the UK art-rock band who were involved in the soundtrack to Peaky Blinders Season 1, and have created an original bespoke soundtrack for the game.
Cillian Murphy, who has lent his talents to the latest trailer (above), has done well this year. Read our review on The Quiet Place 2 here. Meanwhile, Sam Neill, who plays Inspector Chester Campbell, can hopefully resume filming on his upcoming part in Jurassic World: Dominion.
