Pedro Pascal might be joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe. On Wednesday, Nov. 15, Deadline reported that Marvel Studios is getting close to casting the actor in Fantastic Four. Pascal is reportedly in talks to play Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic, who is the leader of the superhero team. According to the publication, there’s just one thing stopping Pascal from officially accepting the role.
Pedro Pascal Could Play Reed Richards On One Condition
Pascal will reportedly sign on as Reed Richards once it’s confirmed the film will fit into his already-packed schedule. His upcoming projects include Ridley Scott’s Gladiator 2, a sequel to the original 2000 epic historical drama Gladiator. Production for the film paused in July due to the SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes. However, it’s expected to resume before the end of the year. In 2024, he’s also set to begin filming the second season of The Last of Us, as well as Zach Cregger’s Weapons.
If Pascal agrees to play Reed Richards, he could begin filming Fantastic Four as soon as early next year. That could mean the rest of the superhero team’s cast will be announced soon. So far, there have been no reports about who could play Sue Storm/Invisible Woman, Johnny Storm/Human Torch, or Ben Grimm/The Thing.
In Tim Story’s Fantastic Four films, which were released from 2005 to 2007, Ioan Gruffudd, Jessica Alba, Chris Evans, and Michael Chiklis made up the iconic team. Meanwhile, Josh Trank’s 2015 movie adaptation cast Miles Teller, Kate Mara, Michael B. Jordan, and Jamie Bell as the Fantastic Four.
Marvel Studios most recently teased the Fantastic Four in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. The film, which hit theaters in May 2022, featured a version of Reed Richards played by John Krasinski.
Marvel’s upcoming Fantastic Four film will kick off Phase Six of the MCU. The movie is scheduled to be released in 2025.
