A mom trying to enjoy Mother’s Day with her son ran into some drama at a Pennsylvania restaurant. Instead of letting the comments go, she decided to stand up for herself and her disabled son. The interaction was caught on video and went viral. Now, the recorder is saying, “Not everyone knows what another person is going through.”
Lexus (@thatgirlllllexus) shared an interaction that happened at a Pennsylvania Longhorn Steakhouse restaurant on Mother’s Day. In the recording, a mother screams, “I’m done!” You can hear somebody off in the distance asking her a question, to which she responds, “Because he’s disabled!”
While the mom is freaking out on these customers, a waitress comes up behind the woman and defends her: “I hope you guys are happy. Whoever complained, by the way.” When the woman heads back to her seat, she tells the waitress she wants to leave. He shakes his head and says, “We’re going to take care of you,” clearly letting her know she isn’t in the wrong for the outburst. He also tells her he understands because his nephew is disabled. Tearjerkingly, she tells him that she defends herself “every day of her life.”
So, what happened that led to the aggressive interaction? Well, it turns out the mom was out trying to have dinner with her disabled son on Mother’s Day. She had to use the restroom so she took her child with her into the women’s bathroom, as many mothers do. Lexus claims in an update video that a bunch of young women claimed they were “uncomfortable” with him being there. The mother had no choice but to bring him with her because Longhorn doesn’t have a family-style restroom.
Commenters flooded to Lexus’ video to show support for the mother, who was clearly exhausted in the interaction. As one commenter pointed out, “That’s a mom who has had to advocate for her son his entire life.” Another commenter stated, “Her voice is angry but if you really listen, there’s so much hurt and pain there.”
The video went viral across TikTok, with many people sharing their reactions and support for the woman who endured this. Others stood up for the server in the situation. One commenter asked, “Can we please recognize how empathetic the server was?” Many people continue to sympathize with the mother as comments pour in.
