A Pennsylvania man is drawing attention to the bizarre location of the cable TV jack in his new apartment: the bathroom. The coax outlet is on the wall opposite his bedroom, but he still found the spot to be quite outrageous. Thousands of online users agreed, baffled by what went through the mind of the interior architect who made that decision.
“Am I supposed to dangle it over the shower curtain rod?” Reddit user luvrdmnoises questioned sarcastically in his post on r/mildlyinfuriating. The photo he shared shows the cable jack around head-shoulder height, right next to the shower, opposite the wall cabinet. Over six thousand Redditors found such outlet placement to be both hilarious yet incredibly frustrating.
“What did they expect you to [do] with that Coax output? Most inconvenient place ever,” exclaimed a commenter, claiming that this was indeed one of the most infuriating things they’ve seen in the subreddit’s posts. “Extra high internet speed for toilet doomscrolling is the apartment feature we didn’t know we needed,” laughed another. A third suggested some fun puns for such an oddly placed cable Jack, including “ShowerNet” and “TubWAN.”
The Renter Claims His Kitchen Has a Cable Jack, But It Doesn’t Work
The renter clarifies that there is another cable jack in his apartment’s kitchen; however, that one doesn’t work. What’s worse is that the working one in the bathroom is nowhere near the center of the home.
One person suggested luvrdmnoises look around more, as the bathroom outlet could be a bathtub TV of sorts, while others would be in more reasonable locations. “Yeah that’s what I thought too, then after multiple extensive searches I only found a dead one over the oven and this one,” he responded. Though, his bathroom doesn’t have a power outlet, so installing a TV wouldn’t be possible.
While several people recommended that the renter reroute the cable or even punch a hole through to his bedroom, things could get messy if the landlord isn’t involved or denies consent. Yet, as a few commenters point out, his misfortune is a solid reminder to check for outlet placement in a home before ever renting.
