A Generation IV Pokémon, Luxio is an Electric-type that bears many similar traits to its previous form Shinx. But when you evolve Luxio in Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl, you’ll notice some cool cosmetic changes. For instance, the black mane it develops, the black markings down the back legs, and yellow markings down the front. To get this look, you need to raise their level.

Evolving Luxio is much the same as when you evolved Shinx. You have to raise them to Level 30. From there, Luxio will evolve into Luxray in Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl. So, they have to gain another 15 levels from this Pokémon’s first evolution round.

Just keep doing what you did with Shinx. Keep Luxio with a Lucky Egg so it will gain more experience points. Also, don’t skip out on any encounters from wild Pokémon to trainers.

On the topic of trainers, you can always get the Vs. Seeker key item so that you can rematch some of them. With their Pokémon now at higher levels, you can gain more EXP in the battle. This makes those rematches more than worth backtracking to places you’ve already explored.

If you haven’t yet, you can hit up Iron Island and join in with Riley in the Double Battles. This will net you a good deal of EXP. For those of you who have defeated the game, you can even rematch the Elite Four and the Champion. These battles are more intense than the first time around, so you’re bound to get some good points out of it.

Locating Luxio in Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl

Of course, you can always catch yourself a wild Luxio if you never had a Shinx to start with. There are only a few places to find one though.

In the wild, you can encounter Luxio in a single location: Fuego Ironworks. It’s a rare encounter no matter what time of the day it is. In the Grand Underground, Luxio is found in the following areas:

  • Grassland Cave
  • Spacious Cave
  • Sunlit Cavern
  • Whiteout Cave

In Pokémon Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl, Luxio will evolve as you level them up. It’s much the same as their previous Shinx version. So, if you evolved Shinx, just stick to what you’re doing.

Pokémon Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl is available on Nintendo Switch.
