With the Christmas season just passed, many people are having their first experience with Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. The resurgence of the Sinnoh classic has seen some great success so far. One thing that has impressed players is the large amount of special Pokemon that can only be caught in the Grand Underground. Beyond the ability to make a Secret Base, it also holds another purpose. Finding your own Fossil Pokemon. Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl have a lot of fossils to find. That said, getting and reviving one can be quite a task. Here’s a handy guide on how to excavate one.
How to Get Fossils in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl
To find your Fossil, you’ll need to have at least reached Eterna City. The Underground Man in this city will give you access to the Grand Underground, and teach you the basics. Once you’ve got your digging tools, get to work on any treasure points you can find! I recommend that you use the hammer to blow through a few layers of hard rock before slowly breaking away from there. If you find a tan shape, that’s your fossil. You’ll get the Skull Fossil with Brilliant Diamond and the Armor Fossil with Shining Pearl.
From here, take the fossil to the Oreburgh City Museum. Speak to the scientist behind the counter and he’ll notice your fossil! After giving it to him and returning, he’ll have revived your Pokemon. Depending on which version you have, you’ll either receive the tough Cranidos or the sturdy Shieldon. Shieldon is a personal favorite due to its powerhouse defense. However, Cranidos is a solid choice and has very nice coverage options. Additionally, after completing the National Dex five more fossils will appear! These hold Omanyte, Kabuto, Areodactyl, Anorith, and Lileep.
