pokemon-live-action-joe-henderson.Netflix is in the early stages of developing a live-action show based on the extremely popular Pokemon game and collectible card series. According to Variety, it will be very much like 2019s Detective Pikachu, which stars Ryan Reynolds as the titular Pikachu, the flagship character in the Pokemon universe. Although we all know Squirtle is the best. With Joe Henderson making most of the key decisions.
Pokemon Stream N’ Go
Nothing is available as far as details on the plot, characters, or anything concrete really; the only thing that we know as of now is that the show will be run by Joe Henderson, who is the co-showrunner of Netflix’s Lucifer, which is entering its sixth and final season, how appropriate. Henderson will be writing and executive producing the soon-to-be live-action Pokemon show. Which is just a fancy way to say that Henderson will be the showrunner of the yet to be titled Netflix show.
Although there is Pokemon content on Netflix at this very moment, it’s not Netflix’s content. Netflix seems poised to start churning out live-action adaptations of other popular animes. After already having produced their Death Note movie in 2017. This new live-action Pokemon take should make for an interesting show.
The Future Is Episodics
I’ve said this before (possibly in a previous article) and I’ll say it again; the future of narrative storytelling is in episodics. The playground is just bigger, and you don’t really need to worry about taking plot points or character development stuff out. As a writer, you should be saving things to reveal later anyways. Unless you just want to give it all up in the pilot. That’s no fun. This really only applies to dramas, not so much comedic shows or cartoons. Who knows, maybe this Pokemon live-action take might be a grittier version of Pokemon, something more akin to the manga.
