Pokémon UNITE has released information about a brand new arena map that will be coming to the game next month – the Theia Sky Ruins! Here, the Legendary Generation 3 Pokémon, Rayquaza, is said to reside in the center, awaiting new challengers to test the limits of its power! Pokémon UNITE players will be able to visit the island and experience a whole new in-game event with Ranked and Standard battles against Rayquaza on September 2, 2022!
Pokémon UNITE Rayquuza and the Theia Sky Ruins Details
Pokémon UNITE shared the first official look at the Theia Sky Ruins and Rayquaza’s domain during the Pokémon World Championships’ opening ceremony and shared the trailer afterward for those who could not attend.
The new trailer provides a first look at the iconic Legendary master of the skies, who first appeared in 2002’s Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire and as the mascot of the Pokémon Emerald game. It reappeared with a new Mega Evolution in Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire in 2014.
Some recent leaks suggest that Rayquaza will have an effect on the surrounding environment when in battle, changing the flow of the air currents around the high-rise structure. According to the leak, once defeated, players will receive a speed boost and shield that will make scores unblockable for a short time.
Pokémon UNITE also recently began celebrating its first anniversary earlier this month, and the festivities are still very much underway. The game has already seen the addition of three new Pokémon: Glaceon, Buzzwole, and Tyrantiar, and three more are expected to debut next month along with this new map.
In addition, players can still participate in the Anniversary Cake Challenge that special rewards for completing anniversary-themed missions in Pokémon UNITE up until September 2, 2022, the same day the Theia Sky Ruins map drops.
Many other festivities can be enjoyed from now until mid-October, so to keep up with the latest updates for Pokémon UNITE going forward, be sure to keep reading The Nerd Stash!
