It’s not uncommon for beauty influencers worldwide to come together and either create or try out new TikTok lip trends based on popular culture. Since the biggest film in theatres right now is Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, those influencers have come up with a lipstick trend inspired by the Geuse himself—a sweet, black and green lip look.
Now, while the news of that is pretty cool in itself, it’s not the trend itself making the rounds on everyone’s FYP; it’s the fact that some influencers are using it to accidentally out themselves as having lip fillers.
People With Lip Filler Can’t Purse Their Lips
The trend to theme this design after the film was started by @_hello_adri on TikTok, a popular makeup artist on the platform. This version of the trend was, in turn, inspired by @laurareisinger, who showed off how to do the design back on July 30 on TikTok. In the trend, you put on green lipstick, purse your lips so that they’re wrinkly, and then use black mascara over the lipstick. When you unpurse your lips, the result is meant to look like a black and green Zebra-like pattern. However, try making your lips wrinkly after undergoing a procedure that literally takes that away.
After the trend took off, fans of popular makeup artists on TikTok, Instagram, and more began asking for their take on the look. What those influencers didn’t realize was how quickly the trend would expose them for not being completely honest with their followers.
One of the biggest influencers who fell “victim” to the TikTok lip trend challenge was @jessypribeautycreator (featured above). Viewers flooded her comments with reasons why the trend didn’t work. Despite that, she was a good sport in her replies, letting rude commentators know that she understood and accepted what happened. Not every trend is worth doing in front of millions of watching eyes, people!
