President Donald Trump Is Sorry but Not Sorry About Fired Federal Workers: ‘We’re Keeping the Best People’

They don’t work

President Donald Trump knows his administration’s firing spree has left many civil servants heartbroken. However, whatever bad blood has stemmed from his decisions is of little to no concern to the politician. He doubled down on being in the right while speaking to reporters on Wednesday, March 12, saying:

“I feel very badly … but many of them don’t work at all. Many of them never showed up to work. When we cut, we want to cut, but we want to cut the people that aren’t working or … not doing a good job.”

Trump stressed that the cuts were necessary, noting, “We’re keeping the best people.” He implied the previous administration was responsible for the firing spree, claiming the country was “run very badly.” The POTUS, per NBC News, added that billions of dollars of “fat and waste and fraud and abuse were being taken out” of the federal government.

While addressing the ongoing cuts, Trump opened up about the employee reductions at the Education Department. He applauded Linda McMahon, the United States Secretary of Education, as a “real professional” and “very sophisticated businessperson.” He noted she removed those undeserving of their position and only “kept the best people.”

Trump stated her actions aligned with his administration’s dream for the country, saying, “We’re going to move the Department of Education. We’re going to move education into the states.” He noted moving education to the states allowed them to run the sector instead of the “bureaucrats working in Washington.”

Besides the Education Department’s workforce being cut in half this week, all employees at the Department of Health and Human Services were affected. They were reportedly offered voluntary buyouts last week. Other job cuts or cancellations of government contracts similarly took place at the Department of Veterans Affairs.

Trump’s administration has been facing backlash for their firing spree, with 9/11 first responder John Feal joining the list. We covered the story, reporting that he bashed the POTUS and Elon Musk for their insensitive actions. Feal’s anger stemmed from the cuts to the federal workforce within the World Trade Center Health Program.

Cutting the workforce, in turn, affected 9/11 first responders. Feal, a longtime advocate of emergency personnel’s health, noted that Trump initially signed the bill supporting his cause in 2019. He recalled receiving high praises from the politician and slammed him as a hypocrite for changing his mind. “His words are shallow and meaningless to me now,” Feal declared.

The FealGood Foundation owner expressed disappointment and hoped Trump would rectify his error. Additionally, Feal slammed Musk and Robert Kennedy Jr. for spearheading the job cuts. He bashed their actions as “inhumane” and “cruel,” stressing that they lacked “empathy” and “humanity.”

Many are outraged by President Donald Trump’s firing spree, but he insists he is doing the government a huge favor. Will more civil servants be affected by his actions?
