Her Majesty Queen Camilla‘s “favorite color is blue,” but it’s also Kate Middleton‘s and Duchess Sophie’s. Of course, there is no issue with three people liking the same color. However, it can become a big concern when three members of The Royal Family like said color — and all wish to wear it during royal engagements. Jacqui Meakin, The Queen’s personal dresser, was none too pleased when she learned blue was a favorite among the three royal women.
Speaking to a royal source, Daily Express reports that Jacqui “ruffled a few feathers” in the palace as Princess Kate, Duchess Sophie, and Queen Camilla wanted to dress in blue for royal activities. Naturally, “The Queen is able to choose her outfits before all the other women in The Royal Family.” So, this predicament of wardrobe controversy sent Jacqui the dresser for a spin.
“There was a time when Jacqui [Meakin] was a bit apprehensive to allow blue to be worn at the same time as the Queen, but she’s relaxed that now as long as the blues are very different shades. In the end, it all became a bit comical with all the ladies seeing the funny side.”

Queen Camilla, Kate Middleton, and Duchess Sophie don’t mind standing out in a crowd with vibrant colors. After all, audiences often attend royal engagements specifically to see or meet members of The Royal Family. Conversely, Meghan Markle, the rogue wife of Prince Harry who broke away from the royal fold, said she did her best to “just blend in.”
During an interview in Netflix’s Harry & Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex argued that she never tried “to stand out” when with The Royals. She claimed wearing “muted tones” so as to not “embarrass the family.” Of course, such a comment is quite ironic, seeing how she and Harry have made quite an infamous name for themselves after betraying the palace and leaving for the USA.
