With the World Cup underway, tensions are rising between various fan bases, particularly outside of stadiums. One such confrontation took place in Los Angeles, California, as a man harassed a family who appeared to be supportive of Iran’s national team.
It seems that the incident took place outside of Inglewood’s Los Angeles Stadium after the June 15, 2026, Iran vs New Zealand game. What appears to be a father, mother, and teenage/young adult daughter were walking around the streets of LA, sporting Iranian memorabilia, when a man began to follow them, shouting obscenities and racial slurs. The family mostly ignored him and tried to shield one another from the individual’s repeated attempts to enter their personal space.
The Internet Is Taking Sides – and It’s Unanimous
In a slew of support for the victims, Redditors pointed out that the people in the clip likely have nothing to do with political decisions. One person acknowledged, “It’s pretty obvious the family he’s harassing aren’t some Islamic fundamentalists, they just came to support their national team.” Another echoed, “Maybe he should go yell at the guy in orange makeup who agreed to $300 billion to help the new Ayatollah rebuild Iran instead of a young woman just trying to enjoy her day.” A third simply shared, “OMG, how disgusting.” Someone else observed that the harasser appears to be a fighting-age male. So, if he really feels so passionately about what’s going on in Iran, he can go over there and get involved, rather than “yell at children in the US.“
It’s worth noting that the individuals enduring the harassment didn’t back down, confront the man, or discard their team memorabilia. Rather, they simply continued on their way as calmly as they could given the circumstances.
