HBO and Sydney Sweeney are once again reuniting for a movie based on Reality Winner, titled Reality, which released its first trailer (seen below). The film is based on the true story of which the woman the film is named after, who was an intelligence contractor for the U.S., was charged with espionage and sentenced to prison for 63 months. Her sentencing is the longest in federal prison for the unauthorized release of government information to the media.
The Reality trailer gives us only a tease of what’s to come. We get some audio of a news reporter talking about leaked information about Russian interference in the 2016 election. It then cuts to the Euphoria star staring as she is being interrogated by an FBI Agent. Images of items of hers being bagged and photographed go in between her listening to the agent.
Reality Trailer shows Sydney Sweeney as Reality Winner for HBO movie
This is one of the first new major projects that will be released under Max, the new name for HBO Max, which combines the streaming service with Discovery+. Still, it is nothing too new for the leading star, as she has worked with HBO for Euphoria and the first season of The White Lotus.
The Reality trailer gives a taste of the directorial debut of Tina Satter. Satter also wrote the film with James Paul Dallas (Invisible Beauty). The White Lotus star will be joined by Josh Hamilton (13 Reasons Why), Marchánt Davis (The Day Shall Come), Benny Elledge (Chicago Fire), and John Way (Sweet Sunshine).
Andrew Beck, Ellyn Daniels, Eva Maria Daniels, Phillipp Engelhorn, Daniel Ginsberg, Caitlin Gold, Will O’Connor, Bill Way, and Elliot Whitton serve as executive producers. Producers include Brad Becker-Parton, David Duque-Estrada, Riva Marker, Greg Nobile, Noah Stahl, and Rita Walsh.
The Reality teaser trailer gives only a taste of the upcoming movie. It will hit Max on May 29.
