It’s been just about a month since Red Dead Redemption 2 was released to the masses and fans have started to chomp at the bit for more content. With Rockstar remaining hush on details regarding the upcoming Red Dead Online beta, we finally got confirmation on when the beta will begin. Red Dead Online will start rolling out the week of Nov. 26 across all platforms.
Unfortunately, not everyone will be able to get in on day one. Rockstar is opting to have a staggered release so Red Dead Redemption 2 players will have to be invited into the beta to access it. This is likely due to the lessons learned with GTA Online, which had an extremely rough release, plagued with server problems at launch.
Rockstar will allow those who purchased the Red Dead Redemption Ultimate Edition into the beta first on Tuesday, Nov. 27. Next, anyone who played the game on its launch day of Oct. 26 will be able to start playing on Wednesday, Nov. 28. On Thursday, anyone who played between launch day and Oct. 29, will gain access to the online beta before opening the floodgates to everyone on Friday, Nov. 30.
The official statement from Rockstar for what fans should expect in Red Dead Online is as follows:
With the gameplay of Red Dead Redemption 2 as its foundation, Red Dead Online transforms the vast and deeply detailed landscapes, cities, towns, and habitats of Red Dead Redemption 2 into a new, living online world ready to be shared by multiple players. Create and customize your character, tailor your abilities to suit your play style, and head out into a new frontier full of things to experience.
Explore this huge world solo or with friends. Form or join a posse to ride with up to seven players; gather around the fire at your camp; head out hunting or fishing; visit bustling towns; battle enemy gangs and attack their hideouts; hunt for treasure; take on missions and interact with familiar characters from across the five states; or fight against other outlaws in both spontaneous skirmishes and pitched set-piece battles; compete with other players or whole posses in open world challenges and much more.
