Remedy Drops a Bombshell Announcement at SGF Live

It’s time to become the Herald of Darkness once more

Holy s#!t. It’s finally here, and I don’t know why I was so surprised that it was announced at Summer Game Fest. Alan Wake 2, the sequel to the famous Alan Wake by Remedy Entertainment, will be dropping the game’s first major DLC tomorrow, June 8. The DLC, titled Night Springs, follows Alan Wake as he switches from horror novelist to TV show writer, writing scenes for the eponymous television show. However, despite the fact that you play as Alan in the base game, you’ll be taking the reigns of three different characters this time around.

Across three Night Springs episodes, players will take control of The Actor (represented by Tim Breaker), The Waitress (represented by Rose Marigold), and The Sibling (represented by Jesse Faden from another Remedy title, Control). The latter’s involvement is the most important part of this announcement as we witness her search for her brother in what the episode calls the Coffee World.

The gameplay for each episode mimics what we know from the base game, though we’ll be seeing it from completely new perspectives. In fact, it seems as though the world around these characters is completely different from what we have come to know already. What’s with Alan giving off that weird biker greaser vibe at the very end? Why does it look like we’ll be playing behind the scenes of the making of one of the games with Shawn Ashmore and Sam Lake? Why does Rose need to carry a shotgun and shoot literally anyone for any reason? (Besides the fact that she’s a little weird).

Fortunately, we’ll get our answers sooner than we could have ever expected. The next DLC, titled The Lighthouse, will be released later this year in October. Not much is known about what we can expect besides the return of both Saga Anderson and Alan Wake.
