A Republican rancher and oilfield business owner in North Dakota shared a video saying he planned to vote for Democratic candidates in November because of his dissatisfaction with President Donald Trump’s policies.

The rancher began the video by identifying himself before saying that, for “the first time ever,” he was planning to vote blue in the upcoming November election. He explained that throughout his life, he had voted “exclusively” red, except in presidential elections. Now, he said he planned to change that.

He explained that he voted for Trump in 2016. In 2020 and 2024, however, he did not vote for either the Democratic or Republican candidate, choosing instead to vote for the Libertarian candidate. “I couldn’t stand to give either party for the presidential election my vote,” he said.

The man then explained why he had decided to change his voting choices. “I can’t stand to give another Republican that supports this administration another vote,” he said. He added that, in his view, the promises made during the campaign were not being fulfilled. “No new wars. We have another never ending war in Iran,” he added.

He continued explaining the issues that had influenced his decision, including high energy prices. The rancher also discussed his experience in the oil industry, claiming that oil companies were reluctant to work because of Trump’s policies and treatment of the industry. “They don’t want to do him any favors,” he said.

The man also claimed that Trump’s policies had affected the cattle market and led to more imported beef. He said ranchers selling calves had lost thousands of dollars as a result. He then argued that Trump would not provide people with checks if Republicans won, pointing to what he described as previously unpaid DOGE and tariff refund checks as examples.

“This guy is a [expletive] liar. He literally is having to bribe you people to get votes cause he has done nothing for you,” the rancher said. He then brought up the Epstein files, claiming that Trump was heavily mentioned in them. The rancher also questioned why some people remained loyal to Trump despite the issues he had raised.

In addition, the man said that the only thing Trump does is “own the libs,” putting the phrase in quotation marks. “And where has that gotten us?” he asked. He continued discussing his issues with Trump, including healthcare, which he believed had been taken away from people who needed it most.

“So I really hope a lot of people feel the same way I do, and send a message to Republicans that we are tired of this [expletive]. Vote blue,” he said. The rest of the video featured the rancher giving more examples of why he planned to vote blue and why he believed others should do the same. He also mentioned the trade deals Trump had been making and described his policies as “disastrous.”

Viewers Agree With Republican North Dakota Rancher’s Voting Choices

After the North Dakota rancher said he planned to vote blue instead of Republican, many viewers agreed with his decision. “Same my man.. I’ve been voting completely red since 1996.. I will be voting blue this time,” one person said. Another person added, “REPUBLICAN HERE IN WISCONSIN VOTING BLUE.”

More viewers responded to the rancher’s comments, with some sharing that their own political views had also changed. “Dude. I grew up conservative and Catholic. All I had to do was decide how I felt about humans. That’s all. And then I decided that if I were super poor or super sick, I’d want certain things to be accessible. If I were a farmer what would I need. If I were a teacher what would I need. The minute you start fighting for other people, YOUR situation will change,” one person wrote. Another person told the rancher, “Very well put especially on the oilfield side.”

The rancher’s comments prompted discussion about how political developments in the United States have influenced some people’s views and voting choices. The reactions also showed that some viewers said they were reconsidering their political affiliations. They also planned to vote differently in future elections.
