The Oculus-exclusive Resident Evil 4 VR has an official release date for October 21. Resident Evil 4 VR will have both full-motion movement and teleportation travel. Everything from puzzles to the typewriter has been designed to be fully interactive. But the biggest change to Resident Evil 4 VR comes in item management. In VR, players can pull weapons and items off their virtual body to use them, like pulling a gun out of a holster or ripping a medpack off your bag.
Originally released in 2005 for consoles and PC, Resident Evil 4 is easily one of the most beloved games in the Resident Evil franchise. Rumors concerning a remake of the fan-favorite have circulated for years now, and while it seems like it is in development, news on the subject has been scarce.
Resident Evil 4 helped modernize the horror franchise and make it what it is today. The synopsis of the revolutionary game is as follows:
Special agent Leon S. Kennedy is sent on a mission to rescue the U.S. President’s daughter who has been kidnapped. Finding his way to a rural village in Europe, he faces new threats that are a departure from the traditional lumbering zombie enemies of the earlier installments in the series. Leon battles horrific new creatures infested by a new threat called Las Plagas and faces off against an aggressive group of enemies including mind-controlled villagers that are tied to Los Illuminados.”
Resident Evil 4 VR will be available exclusively for Oculus Quest 2 on October 21, 2021. As of this writing, there is no news on whether or not it will eventually release for other VR headsets.
