Cave Trolls are dangerous and powerful enemies that you will meet in many locations, mostly in dark places. Their large size and evil faces are intimidating, and in battles, the enemy is really dangerous, so now we will tell you how to beat a Cave Troll in Return to Moria. The trolls you encounter during the game can be divided into two categories: with and without weapons. Both of them are tough to fight, but the tactics to kill them are identical, so follow our instructions to understand how to do it.
The game has 2 types of Cave Trolls:
- Unarmed: In battle, they rely on their strength and size. They will use different types of attacks, ranging from stomping feet that shake the ground and break bones, to throwing boulders to hurt you if you are far away.
- Armed: A more powerful and aggressive type of troll. In battle, they will make devastating attacks with weapons using various techniques. With weapons, they become more dangerous because they have a larger area of effect. Just like unarmed trolls, they can throw boulders if you are too far away.
What both of these two types have in common is their weakness, namely their fear of sunlight. If you fight this enemy in a cave, then finding a source of sunlight should be your priority. Once you do so and lure the troll into the sunlight, it will be petrified. All you have to do is take a pickaxe and hit it several times to break the newly petrified troll.
But what if there is no sunlight anywhere? In this case, you’ll need to be ready for a difficult and long battle. So, here are some tips you can use:
- Don’t try to be too aggressive because, in close combat, trolls deal powerful blows. If you do decide to fight in close combat, pay attention to the animation of the troll’s attacks because in most cases, you can avoid them with a standard dodge if you react in time.
- Dodging is the best option here. While the troll is making an attack, you can avoid it and successfully counterattack.
- Don’t try to block the troll’s punches because its attack will simply throw you back, leaving you vulnerable.
- Be fast but patient. By correctly calculating your movements and anticipating the enemy’s maneuvers, you will make the battle much easier.
