Rihanna won’t stand for anyone coming after her family. The “Diamonds” singer, who shares sons RZA and Riot with rapper A$AP Rocky, recently clapped back at someone criticizing her children’s names. Her response has since gone viral, with many fans praising Rihanna for standing up for herself.
Rihanna Defends Her Son’s Unique Names
The drama started shortly after the pop star shared never-before-seen photos of her and her children on Instagram. In honor of International Women’s Day, Rihanna posted intimate shots of herself the day each of her sons was born. The pictures, which were taken in 2022 and 2023, showed her lying in a hospital bed while cradling her newborns on her chest. She called them her “little miracles” and said giving birth to them has been “the most powerful thing” she’s ever done as a woman.
Most of the comments underneath Rihanna’s Instagram were positive. However, one person stirred up drama by sharing their opinion on the unique names Rihanna decided to give her sons. “I hate their names so bad,” someone wrote.
The following day, Rihanna decided to give the person a taste of their own medicine by dissing them back. “ok tatiana,” she wrote.
Fans thought Rihanna’s response was hilarious. “I’m on the floor lol,” one person commented. “Imagine being dissed by Rih,” another wrote. Fans called her the “clapback queen” and said the commenter should have known better than to mess with her. “She’s slick with the comebacks,” a fan said.
Clearly, Rihanna isn’t one to stay quiet when it comes to people criticizing her family.
Family Means Everything
Since getting together with A$AP Rocky in 2019, the “Work” singer has stepped back from the spotlight to focus on her personal life. She and the rapper became first-time parents with the arrival of their oldest son, RZA, in May 2022. After announcing they were expecting again at the 2023 Super Bowl, Rihanna gave birth to the couple’s youngest son, Riot, that August.
Rihanna and A$AP Rocky have kept their sons mostly away from the public eye over the years. However, they recently brought their children along to the rapper’s felony assault trial in February. Their presence during the closing arguments was criticized by some online since they claimed the couple was trying to gain sympathy.
A$AP Rocky was eventually acquitted of two felony counts of assault with a semiautomatic firearm. The verdict meant he escaped a potential 24-year prison sentence. Following the trial, the rapper’s lawyer, Joe Tacopina, told Extra that Rihanna and A$AP Rocky were so emotional over the outcome that they promised to name their next child after him.
As of now, the couple hasn’t announced they’re expecting another baby. However, it’s possible they’re thinking of expanding their family in the near future.
