The last few years have been good for horror, and 2024 will continue this trend. Robert Eggers has given a teaser for his Nosferatu remake, including a first look (seen below) and what we should expect from Bill Skarsgård as Count Orlok. The image shows Lily-Rose Depp as Ellen, who is staring at the horrifying monster, who is off-screen to let our imaginations run wild.

In an interview with Empire, Robert Eggers said what should be expected from his Nosferatu remake. The director has been known for making beloved horror films like The Witch and The Lighthouse, which have differed while having his voice. This time around, he is diving into the deep end of making “an old-school Gothic movie.”

It’s a scary film. It’s a horror movie. It’s a Gothic horror movie. And I do think that there hasn’t been an old-school Gothic movie that’s actually scary in a while. And I think that the majority of audiences will find this one to be the case.

One of the leads, Bill Skarsgård, made his name as a killer monster in both It movies. Now, he gets to be a vampire to create more nightmares for us. The director talked about how “transformed” the actor became. It was enough that he was convinced that the star “might not get the credit that he deserves” for how much he had been turned into Count Orlok.

I’ll say that Bill has so transformed, I’m fearful that he might not get the credit that he deserves because he’s just… he’s not there.

The film will be a mix of newcomers and a reunion for the director and his cast. It will be the third time he has worked with Willem Dafoe and Ralph Ineson, as he worked with Dafoe in The Lighthouse and The Northman and Ineson in The Witch and The Northman. People coming in without that experience of the auteur include Nicholas Hoult, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Emma Corrin (The Crown), and Simon McBurney (The Conjuring 2).

No release date has been set for Nosferatu, but the next film by Robert Eggers is set for release in 2024.
