When Robin Williams passed away from suicide on August 11th, 2014, everyone felt it. Not only was it unexpected, but being one of the most beloved comedians alive, the news hit us all pretty hard. And to say he’s left a void in his absence is still putting it mildly. But on the brighter side, his children took to their social media this week to post a bit about it and share some images and memories of the late, great Robin Williams. A man who very well may be gone but will never be forgotten.
Heads up, keep a box of tissues handy for this one, folks.
“Dad, on the eighth anniversary of your passing, I’m remembering how incredibly kind and joyful you were. I deeply miss you you wonderful, hairy man and will be celebrating your life today. Love you so so much!”— Zak Williams (@zakwilliams) August 11, 2022

So weird that it’s raining on our faces right now.
“And once the storm is over, you won’t remember how you made it through, how you managed to survive. You won’t even be sure, whether the storm is really over. But one thing is certain. When you come out of the storm, you won’t be the same person who walked in.” – Haruki Murakami

“The Academy Award-winning Robin — who was also dad to 30-year-old Cody — died by suicide on Aug. 11, 2014, at his home in Tiburon, Calif. He was 63. Robin had been misdiagnosed with early stages of Parkinson’s disease before he died. An autopsy revealed he unknowingly had Lewy body dementia (LBD), a brain disorder that causes a decline in thinking, reasoning, and independence.”
Let’s just be honest here. The loss of Robin Williams pretty much broke everybody on Earth’s heart. He was just such a genuine, joyous man (on the outside), and even though he was suffering, he wanted to make the world laugh. And real talk, he did. We all felt like we lost a favorite uncle when he passed on.
Props to Robin Williams’ children for posting on social media, keeping his name and love for him very much alive. Dude makes us want to stand at our desks and say, “oh captain, my captain.”
