Clearly, the developers of Roblox Adopt Me are big fans of Jurassic Park. Fossil Isle 2024 is essentially taking the science from the movie, the power to bring dinosaurs back from extinction, and turning it into a fun and rewarding minigame. But, you know, minus the bloodshed. For now we’re going to ignore Ian Malcolm’s words of caution and dig up some dinosaur fossils, anyway. The Adopt Me Fossil Isle 2024 event has a few moving parts, so let me guide you through the process.
Roblox Adopt Me: How to Mine Fossils at Fossil Isle 2024
The first thing you need to do in Adopt Me is actually visit Fossil Isle. You can do this in one of two ways: you can be all cinematic and take a helicopter ride on Adopt Me Island or you can teleport to Fossil Isle using your task board. Sticking to the theme of Jurassic Park, I chose the helicopter ride.
Upon reaching Fossil Isle, the NPC at the gate, Rachel, will give you a breakdown of the process, as well as a pickaxe. The gist of what you’ll be doing is:
- Mining several layers of dirt and rock
- Each block has a chance of containing ore and fossils
- Gather enough fossils and you can turn it into a dinosaur
Now, there are five types of fossils, each related to a specific dinosaur. Every block you mine at Fossil Isle has a chance of containing one of five fossil fragments, and once you’ve collected 20 of the same kind, you can reconstruct that pet at the Fossil Sequencer 7000 for a fee, which increases based on the rarity of the fossil.
Dinosaur | Rarity | Cost to Gene Sequence |
Brachiosaurus | Common | $25 |
Velociraptor | Uncommon | $100 |
Ankylosaurus | Rare | $400 |
Elasmosaurus | Ultra Rare | $1200 |
Dimorphodon | Legendary | $3600 |
Adopt Me: How to Upgrade Your Fossil Isle Pickaxe
So, with there being layers of dirt and rock, what do you mine? Everything. Leave no block un-mined. You’ll notice that some blocks have bones printed on them. Those are guaranteed to have fossil fragments, whereas the “blank” blocks have a lower chance but still worth mining.
However, at some point you’ll be unable to mine further down, not because there’s nothing left to mine but because your pickaxe isn’t strong enough. You start off with a Copper Pickaxe, which is only good for mining dirt.
That’s where finding ore comes into play. Some blocks will appear to have stones embedded in them. If you mine them, you’ll get one of two types of ore: iron or diamond. Once you’ve gathered enough, you can upgrade.
The good news is that every major layer (there are three), you’ll always get enough ore to craft your next pickaxe. In the case of the iron pickaxe, you just need 10 iron ore; the diamond pickaxe requires 20. Interact with the furnace by the Blacksmith when you have enough, then speak with her and she’ll give you your next pickaxe!
