Ubisoft isn’t quite done yet with its live-service shooters because a rumor or a leak is now flying around that Rainbow Six Siege might just get a Rainbow Six Siege 2. Nothing is conclusive about the release date at the moment, but a known Rainbow Six Siege and Assassin’s Creed leaker has suggested that Ubisoft is poised to reveal Rainbow Six Siege 2 about a week from now.
The leaker in question would be none other than fraxiswinning, who has earned quite a reputation in the Rainbow Six Siege community for being correct about leaks. According to fraxiswinning, Rainbow Six Siege 2 could also be called Rainbow Six Siege X, which is in celebration of Rainbow Six Siege‘s 10th Anniversary. The famed Ubisoft shooter game has been around since 2015 and is actually one of the studio’s strongest titles.
In any case, here’s what fraxiswinning said exactly about the potential Rainbow Six Siege 2/X:
For additional details, frax has suggested that the Rainbow Six Siege 2 reveal or announcement would take place at Ubisoft’s Six Invitational 2025 event which is set to take place on February 14-16, 2025 at the MGM Music Hall at Fenway, Boston.
The leak itself on the Discord server alludes to major changes for Rainbow Six, such as engine overhauls and visual upgrades. Sadly, old and limited events from the original Rainbow Six Siege might not return to the sequel, which will supposedly feature its own unique and new events.
A Much-Needed Sequel for Rainbow Six Siege
As always, there’s no release date for the rumored sequel, but the aforementioned leaker has surmised a generous mid-2025 for Rainbow Six Siege 2 or sometime during Year 10 Season 2 for Rainbow Six Siege. It’s not clear what’s going to happen to the old Rainbow Six Siege once the sequel has been released.
But of course, there’s still a chance that the rumor or leak could be wrong, or perhaps Ubisoft might adjust its proceedings depending on the leaks. You will want to take this one with a grain of salt.
A Rainbow Six Siege sequel, however, makes sense for Ubisoft after their recent troubles with the live-service format and other titles. Despite shutting down XDefiant, Rainbow Six Siege has remained strong for Ubisoft, and it would be a waste to ignore its potential.
The bar of entry for Rainbow Six Siege has notably gone up after many seasons and tons of operators, and a sequel might be the best way to introduce new players to the franchise. It’s practically a fresh start for everyone.
