Savannah Guthrie Calls on Collective Prayer Amid Mother’s Disappearance
The Today show co-host shared an emotional message on Instagram with followers after authorities said they believe her 84-year-old mother was taken from her Tucson home overnight.
“We believe in prayer. We believe in voices raised in unison, in love, in hope,” Savannah wrote. “We believe in goodness, we believe in humanity. Above all, we believe in Him.”
Nancy Guthrie, described by her daughter as deeply faithful, was reported missing Sunday after failing to attend morning mass. Savannah thanked supporters, writing, “Thank you for lifting your prayers with ours for our beloved mom, our dearest Nancy, a woman of deep conviction, a good and faithful servant.”
She also urged followers to “raise your prayers with us and believe with us that she will be lifted by them in this very moment,” adding, “We need you” and “Bring her home.”
Messages of support poured in from colleagues and friends, including Hilda Kotb, Amy Schumer, Andy Cohen, Josh Gad, Nia Long, and several current and former NBC anchors, offering prayers and solidarity.
Investigation Deepens as Officials Cite Alarming Signs
Authorities now believe the 84-year-old may have been taken from her Tucson home overnight. Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos said Nancy “is very limited in her mobility. She did not just walk out of there,” noting that evidence at the scene raised serious concern.
“There are other things at the scene that indicate she did not leave on her own,” he added, revealing she left behind medication she needs to survive. Detectives also found her phone, wallet, and car still at the house.
As the case unfolded on Today, Jenna Bush Hager addressed viewers through tears, saying, “I know her personally. And we want to just report, too, that she takes daily medication and she needs them for survival.” She added, “She’s without her medication. We are thinking of our dearest, dearest Savannah and her whole family right now in our prayers.”
According to a recent Daily Mail update, police sources revealed that blood was discovered inside the home of Savannah Guthrie’s abducted mother after a kidnapper allegedly forced their way into the property.
While investigators say the public is not in danger, the Guthrie family remains focused on faith, hope, and the safe return of Nancy.
