The first big news in The Game Awards on Thursday night was the official reveal of Microsoft’s next-gen console, the Xbox Series X. If that wasn’t big enough news on its own, the first game for the console, Senua’s Saga Hellblade 2 was shown off as well.

While there isn’t much known about the game yet, what we can say is it looks amazing. The original Hellblade is a game that looks fantastic in its own right despite developer Ninja Theory not being a huge studio.

Hellblade 2 is understandably on another level. The most impressive thing about the reveal was the announcement at the outset.

Along with the fact that it’s officially the first game to be announced for the Xbox Series X, the video was produced using in-engine footage. Take a look at the trailer below in order to see why that fact should get people very, very excited for the next generation of consoles.

It appears Senua and her people are getting ready to go to war, or some kind of battle. That’s about the extent of just what Hellblade 2 has to offer.

The Game Awards got off to quite the bang as the trailer for Senua’s Saga was immediately followed up with a trailer for an upcoming PS5 title, Godfall.

We have officially hit that time of year where we’re going to be finding out more and more about the next generation of consoles. Microsoft announced the Xbox Series X (once known as Project Scarlett) is hitting store shelves in time for the holidays, 2020.

That confirms that both next-gen consoles will be vying for your wallet’s attention next winter. Unfortunately, while we know that Senua’s Saga Hellblade 2 will eventually be landing on the Xbox Series X, it’s not clear when.

One would hope it’s announcement means it’s a launch title but Microsoft has not confirmed that yet.
