There were many surprises during Summer Game Fest; some expected and some mind-blowing ones. Stellar Blade: BLOOD RAIN was among the latter. While we knew SHIFT UP was working on a sequel, we were not expecting an announcement so soon, especially hot on the heels of the PC release last year. Yet, the studio once again left our jaws on the floor, especially after showing what seems to be an even bigger and more ambitious game than its predecessor, and one that action-adventure fans will want to jump into as soon as it launches.
Stellar Blade: BLOOD RAIN Is In Development and Being Self-Published by SHIFT UP
Almost at the end of Summer Game Fest, SHIFT UP decided to surprise us with Stellar Blade: BLOOD RAIN. This title continues the story after the events of the original Stellar Blade, in the same universe, but with a new protagonist: Evie. So far, this action-adventure title is still in early development, but from what we saw in the trailer, it is looking extremely promising.
Fans of the series might have spotted a familiar suit that Evie is wearing, albeit with a new logo, likely showcasing a new organization that we’ll work for. On top of that, there are several new combat mechanics, and it seems like Evie focuses on an even closer form of combat with explosive punches and other slick moves to take down enemies.
Yet, what really surprised many of us was the scope of the game, as it seems it won’t be exclusive to a small hub anymore, but rather a huge city. We saw Evie navigating a city full of people as she chased down some mysterious figures. Some of the story details are still a mystery, but we’re glad to see a new direction for the series, and one that already looks pretty intriguing.
Lastly, SHIFT UP has already revealed that it will self-publish this sequel, which could likely mean that we’ll get it on other platforms at launch, but there is no confirmation yet. Also, we don’t have a release window, but we don’t mind waiting, as we know SHIFT UP can cook up some amazing action-adventure titles, and we are sure Stellar Blade: BLOOD RAIN will be another one for the history books.
