Those who have spent at least a few hours in Baldur’s Gate 3 know that any decision you make can and will have consequences. And while some decisions are relatively harmless, others can lead to the imminent death of your entire group. So when you are in Shadow Cursed Lands and holding Moon Lantern in your hand, you will think several times before letting go of Pixie and being left without protection. However, like everything in the game, this situation is not as simple as it seems at first glance. So, should you release the Pixie in Baldur’s Gate 3 (BG3)? We are here to describe the consequences of this decision.
What Happens if You Release the Pixie in BG3 – Best Choice
If you’re looking for a short answer, definitely Yes, you should release the Pixie in Baldur’s Gate 3. Although it seems like a suicidal decision, your kindness has several positive consequences that will make your journey much easier. First of all, as a reward for freedom, your entire group will receive the blessing of Pixie. More specifically, you will get a Filigreed Feywild Bell, using which your party gains immunity to Shadow Cursed.
The Filigreed Feywild Bell is an infinite item, so you can use it every long rest and thus gain complete immunity to the dangerous Act 2 location. Primarily, this blessing gives you freedom of movement during combat. Previously, your entire party had to be within Moon Lantern’s range to avoid taking additional damage. In addition, one of your characters, at all times, had to hold the Moon Lantern. Shadow Cursed limiting and complicating any of your battles, but now you are free.
By the way, besides helping you in Act 2, Pixie will help you in Act 3. If you don’t free her, you’ll have to spend much more effort solving problems with the printing press.
The only downside to this choice is that you won’t be able to see wraiths or shadows as they teleport during combat. But it’s a small price for all the positive effects.
What Happens if You Keep the Pixie in the Moon Lantern in BG3
If you’re playing as an evil character and leave Pixie in the Moon Lantern in BG3, you won’t get all the benefits described above. You will be limited in movement, and each skirmish will threaten death for your characters if they are knocked out of Moon Lantern’s range. On the other hand, you will always be able to see wraiths or shadows and their movements. So if that’s what you want, you can leave Pixie in jail.
