Tensions are running high between Tiefling refugees and the Druids that took them in. In Baldur’s Gate 3, you have plenty of solutions to this problem, including one to steal the Druids’ Sacred Idol. Like any major decision in the Dungeons & Dragons game, you will have pros and cons to weigh before making such a bold move. This is what you can expect if you go down this path, including the positives and the consequences.
Whether or Not to Steal the Druids’ Sacred Idol in Baldur’s Gate 3
Going down this solution for Druid Grove is up to your alignment. If you are trying to maintain a positive playthrough and be good, then you will not want to do this method. Stealing will go against some characters’ moral compass. If you are playing with friends, ensure everyone is on the same page, as this will unlock one of the biggest fights in the game.
Regardless of your roleplaying preference, the main negative of stealing the Sacred Idol is that it will mean you miss out on some quests. Almost everything you can get, including quests, from Druid Grove will be wiped out as everyone, or nearly everyone, will die in the town. So, it is up to you what you are willing to miss out by going down this path.
This is the way to go for players who do not care about the morality of theft and death. The benefits outweigh the lost lives of characters doing something pretty evil. You can loot everything and get plenty of experience as you wipe out hostile Druids.
What Happens If You Steal the Druids’ Sacred Idol in Baldur’s Gate 3?
If you are going for an evil run or willing to go into morally questionable acts, taking the Sacred Idol in Baldur’s Gate 3 is for you. The heist will turn into a blood bath, leading to danger, good experience, and loads of loot. This is what you will need to do to get your hands on this magical artifact that is required for this dangerous and divisive ritual:
- Complete the Investigate the Beach quest in the Secluded Cove.
- Tell Mol that you will steal the Sacred Idol.
- Steal the item and kill all the hostile Druids.
It may seem simple, but the amount of enemies could prove too difficult. You can try to sneak your way into stealing it. Some methods would be to obscure the vision of the three Druids performing the ritual or turn invisible. You can cast a spell to cover it with fog or use the Shadow of Menzoberranzan helmet to turn it invisible. Alternatively, placing a chest next to the idol and placing it there before your inventory could work. Either way, you must experiment and see if you can successfully steal without getting caught. If not, then prepare for battle.
If you are in the fight, loot while at it to avoid further trouble or relationship-related issues for more theft. It will make the process easier as you will be in a difficult situation. Once all that is done, you have a few more steps to complete the quest:
- Go through the Concealed Hatch and go into the Tiefling Hideout.
- Give the item to Mol, who will reward you when you meet her again in Baldur’s Gate.
