Snoop Dogg fires back at trolls criticizing his performance at a Donald Trump inauguration event. The star was one of a handful of rappers and singers recruited to perform at events celebrating Trump’s inauguration ahead of his swearing-in on Monday, January 20, 2025. The icon took to the stage at the Washington Venue the weekend before Trump’s inauguration, DJing for attendees at the Crypto Ball and thrilling them with hits from renowned artists. Notably, the event, honoring the POTUS as “America’s first crypto president’ also saw performances from other African-American stars like Rick Ross and Soulja Boy. However, Snoop Dogg’s appearance took fans by surprise, as the rapper has been vocal about his disdain for the politician.

Netizens turned to social media platforms to voice their outrage at the artist, branding him a sellout. Their attacks focused majorly on Snoop Dogg’s 2017 post threatening to roast anyone willing to give a performance at Donald Trump’s inauguration. At the time, the rapper described those willing to perform as “Uncle Toms,” adding, “I’m waiting. I’m gonna roast the f*** outta you.”

Doing a 360 switcheroo after his 2017 roast was something no one saw coming. Snoop Dogg took to social media on Sunday to respond to the backlash, after acting unfazed for days. In the social media clip, the rapper, listening to gospel tracks like Anita Baker’s Ain’t No Need to Worry, Stairway to Heaven by The O’Jays addressed the hate by saying,

“It’s Sunday, man, I got God filling my heart right now… For all the hate, I’ma answer it with love. Y’all can’t hate enough for me, I love too much.

He added,

Get your life right, stop worrying about mine. I’m cool, I’m together. Still a Black man, still one hundred percent Black. All out ’till you ball out or ’til you fall out.”

Rapper Previously Declared Love and Respect for Trump

Just last year, the rapper made another pro-Trump move that shocked his fans. During a January 2024 interview with The Sunday Times, Snoop Dogg discussed how he truly felt about the Republican, who he has openly castigated in years past. He admitted to interviewers that Trump did him no wrong. Going further he praised the politician for pardoning Michael Harris, admitting doing such great things for him earned Trump his “love and respect.”

While Snoop’s feelings about the POTUS did not reflect his political affiliations, most netizens felt betrayed by this change of heart, believing the rapper’s previously unmaimed integrity had been compromised by monetary gain. Of course, it didn’t help that Elon Musk made a point of rubbing it in by highlighting Snoop Dogg’s 2017 clip threatening to roast anyone who agreed to a performance at Donald Trump’s inauguration. Comparing it to his Crypto Ball performance, Musk joked that “the vibe shift is real,” seemingly mocking the rap legend.
