A woman from South Carolina calls out the alleged racism she witnessed growing up in the South. Her TikTok video has over 190,000 views and over 27,000 likes within five hours of posting. In the video, she says she doesn’t support any of these actions and would often tell people, “Don’t do that.”
The first thing she mentions is that she was in a conversation with a girl who allegedly stated, “she would have a Holocaust for black people.” The woman also blasts a video posted by another South Carolina girl, detailing how “blue birds go with blue birds.” This concept is something she states: “I actually got to experience this firsthand outside of a church.” She describes a time when she spoke to a church member after service about going on a date. When the lady found out the guy’s race, she allegedly said, “You really shouldn’t date outside your race.”
Next, she said she got into an argument with a guy over politics. This allegedly started when, “He looked me dead in the eyes and asked me, you know, what do black people contribute to our society?” She insists she no longer speaks to the man. But during the interaction, she says she called him a racist, and this made him mad. The woman describes how people also allegedly have a group chat where they send racist imagery to each other. She states that not everyone is like this, but she went “to a predominantly white school” and lived in a small town in South Carolina. These are behaviors that she considers to be “quite appalling.”
Many Shocked By Alleged South Carolina Racism
Meanwhile, several commenters are disgusted by the behavior. One person states, “Sharing this planet with such hateful people is beyond exhausting.” One comment reads, “The group message stuff? That’s so scary.” Another is grateful that she is speaking out, stating, “Thank you for bringing awareness cause people act like this stuff doesn’t happen.”
Many agree with the South Carolina woman’s claims. One commenter points out, “People get so mad when u call them racist … when that’s literally what they are.” Another says, “Went to SC for vacation & it sucked. Not surprised at this information.” Another suggests, “Girl, as soon as you can leave, do it because no, I wouldn’t want to be around that either.”
The South Carolina woman states that her purpose for the video is to show that there are still areas in the U.S. that “are so backwards in the way they think.”
