Tennessee CNA Says She Was Fired Before Her Two-Week Notice Was Up, but Employer Disagrees: ‘You Weren’t Fired, You Quit. Period’

A Tennessee CNA says she was fired before her two-week notice was over, but her employer says it simply accepted her resignation early. The conflicting accounts quickly divided TikTok. Some viewers called it a termination, while others insisted the creator wasn’t actually fired.

Posted to TikTok by @asiah.mcghee, the creator says she arrived for her shift at 6 a.m. and spent the morning “working, slaving” on the floor. Around 10 a.m., management approached her and told her to grab her belongings because they were accepting her notice early.

She says she then contacted HR because she wanted an explanation for why she had been fired. According to the creator, they told her she wasn’t being fired, that her resignation was being accepted early.

The creator says her bosses had previously questioned her about TikTok and used her social media activity during workplace conversations. She says the situation was confusing because she had been working normally before being told to leave.

The Tennessee creator says she has interviews lined up and believes God has a plan for her.

So Was She Fired or Not?

Most commenters weren’t debating whether she deserved the job back. They were debating one thing: did the Tennessee company fire her, or did they simply decide her two-week notice was over?

Some viewers weren’t buying the “fired” label at all. “You weren’t fired you quit. Period,” one person bluntly declared.

Another commenter backed that interpretation, arguing that employers sometimes choose to accept a resignation before the employee’s stated final day. “Yeah that’s not being fired, it’s common for companies to honor your resignation earlier than the notice you gave… Good luck on your endeavors,” they wrote.

Others skipped the employment debate entirely and focused on the silver lining: more TikTok. “Just means to be taking your TikTok even more serious Bestie, God has a plan for you and maybe it’s to be a full-time creator cause you’re already succeeding so much my girl,” one commenter wrote.

Others questioned whether giving two weeks’ notice is even worth it. One user said, “I never put a 2 week notice in because I found out that these companies really don’t care about you… your just a number to them.”

Stories about people getting fired hit differently when so many workers have their own experiences with bad employers. Social media just gives everyone a place to tell their side.
