It has been a crazy week for Spider-Man 3 news. Marvel seems to be going all-in on the Spider-Verse route for Tom Holland’s third installment as the web-slinger. And with Spider-Man 3 entering the multiverse, there is naturally the opportunity to bring in former stars. So far, we know that Jamie Foxx’s Electro and Doc Ock are reprising their roles. Past Spidey actors, Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield, are also set to return. There are several others too. If the cast wasn’t already big enough, the latest casting news sees the movie reportedly cast Daredevil actor Charlie Cox.
Charlie Cox played Matt Murdock, aka Daredevil, for three seasons from 2015 to 2018. Sadly, the MCU show was canceled by Netflix so fans were not able to see more, despite it being one of the most highly rated and popular Marvel TV shows out there. However, according to a report by the reputable outlet Murphy’s Multiverse, it appears as if Cox will be reprising his beloved role for Spider-Man 3. The report states that the casting is a deal that has been set for several months now.
We don’t know exactly what role Daredevil has in the movie, but Grace Randolph of the popular Beyond the Trailer YouTube channel tweeted that she believes him to be Peter Parker’s lawyer. It makes sense. A lawyer is Matt Murdock’s day job and Peter Parker got into some trouble at the end of Far From Home.
The transfer of Spider-Man rights from Sony to Disney and Kevin Feige is already proving its worth. Feige is wasting no time in bringing an unprecedented live-action Spider-Verse into fruition. Only a few years ago, if you were to say that Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield would feature alongside Tom Holland, many fans would have laughed. We’re all delighted to see it finally come together. However, while it’s a great idea, fans are a bit concerned with exactly how saturated Spider-Man 3 is going to be. More and more actors are coming on board. Hopefully, Holland’s Spider-Man doesn’t feel like a background character in his own movie.
If anyone is capable of executing it to perfection, Kevin Feige is that guy.
Currently untitled, Spider-Man 3 is slated to premiere in December 2021. How excited are you to see Charlie Cox play Daredevil in Spider-Man 3? Let me know in the comments!
