Squad Busters has an incredibly addictive gameplay loop that’s fairly straightforward, yet it can be confusing for beginners. You’re thrown into the heat of the massive brawl early on with minimum guidance, and it’s easy to find yourself overwhelmed. That’s why it never hurts to seek out some help. With these Squad Busters tips, you can devise a better strategy to propel yourself to the top of the leaderboard, even as a beginner.

Focus on Collecting Characters in One World

It’s certainly a rush when you’ve been battling away and are finally able to access a new world. One of my strongest Squad Busters tips is to hang out in the world you’re in. This will give you the room to unlock more characters. Once you dive into a new world, you want to be as prepared as possible. A solid collection of characters ensures that will be the case.

Pay Attention to the Battle Mod

As each map is randomly generated, Squad Busters also adds a new Battle Mod when you start a match. Use the Battle Mod as a way to guide your character selection. Since building your crew can make or break you, a great Squad Busters strategy tip focuses on adaptation. There are over 20 Battle Mods, with more being added in future updates, so there’s plenty to learn.

For instance, there’s the Tree Giants mod, where Trees will drop Gems. In this case, you want to push Greg on your squad thanks to his tree-hacking abilities. Or perhaps you get the Loot Surge mod. You’ll want to gather all that sweet loot before your opponents, so bringing in a Speedster will benefit you with that mode more than anything else.

Balance Your Squad

It’s tempting to choose who you feel is the coolest character when you jump into Squad Busters, but a good tip to remember is to think about synergy. You don’t want a squad built up of characters with the same skills. It’s easy for opponents (or even the environment) to trap you and knock you out in the beginning.

The game mode can readily get crowded, with the potential for opponents to flank left and right, especially near the end. So, having a Ranged character, a Tank, and even a Speedster can give your squad an upper hand. This way, you can always adapt to changing situations.

Stick Close to the Gem Mine

This Squad Busters tip might make some beginners nervous, but you want to push through those trepidations and head toward the Gem Mine near the end of the match. Gems are the key to every match, so you want to gain as much as possible. Once it opens up, you want to be in a good position nearby to reap the benefits.

Don’t go into the endgame in Squad Busters without a good strategy, though. Make sure you have your strongest characters at this point. You’ll be battling AI, as well as other players, with similar strats. It’s dangerous, no doubt about it. But if you can survive, it’s worth the struggle.

Prioritize Fusing Characters at the Start

Out of all the tips concerning the Squad Busters characters, this one can seem counterproductive. However, it will work out. You indeed want to build up your squad with different characters, but at the start, it’s more beneficial to stick with what you have. Once you have three of the same character, you can focus on Fusion. Aiming for this with any of your attacking characters is ideal. This will help you gain ground quickly at the beginning of a match. From there, you can work on upgrading your squad.

Handle Your Coins Accordingly

You’ll want to gather Coins as much as you do Gems. Coins are lurking in unsuspecting places, too. Have you noticed some bushes shining when you approach them? This means they either have Coins or Gems hidden within. Gather as many Coins as possible, and when you have enough, focus on getting those Chest Tickets. They’re the best way you can spend Coins at this point.

Build That Win Streak

To round up these Squad Busters tips, try your best to build up a win streak. Only the luckiest of us see this at the beginning. It might take a few attempts, but it’s worth the effort. But we’re not here for any bragging rights. A win streak is actually beneficial. The longer you hold it, the more you will rack up special reward chests like rare or epic-rated.

And with that said, these Squad Busters strategies should get you through your infant stage. By the time you grasp it, you’ll hang out near the top of the leaderboard before you know it.

Squad Busters is available on iOS and Android.
