While completing the main quest in the Lesser Zone, you will eventually encounter a man named Squint. If you don’t decide to shoot him in STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl, you can accept an extra side quest called Piece of Cake. This mission will require you to head into a small cave and retrieve an Artifact from another Anomalous Field. While the man assures you that there’s nothing to worry about, you should know that you shouldn’t trust people too much while in the zone.
How To Complete Piece of Cake Quest in STALKER 2
You can start the Piece of Cake side quest by speaking with Squint in STALKER 2. The man will hide inside the old mill, which he has filled with booby traps. After safely disarming them, you can speak with him on the highest floor. Your goal is to retrieve the sensor, and while you can just forcefully take it, I suggest listening to his request.
He’ll ask you to visit a nearby cave and retrieve an Artifact from the Anomalous Field. You can enter this area by exiting the old mill and heading west. Inside one of the abandoned homes, you can find a hole in the floor that will lead you to your objective.
Be careful when you enter the cave because it is infested by Bloodsuckers. This mutated monster can make themselves invisible and attack you with fast speed. I suggest putting a wall behind you so the creature cannot hit you from behind. Besides monsters, you can also find some corpses with loot here, so don’t forget to relieve them of their belongings.
Here’s how you can find the Artifact in the Piece of Cake side quest:
- Enter the cave and reach the big chamber.
- Defeat the Bloodsucker monster.
- Head south until you find a pool of water.
- Grab the items from the backpack.
- To the west, you can find a dead end with another body.
- Head east to reach the Anomalous Field.
You will find another Anomalous Field in this chamber. As usual, pull out your Detector and listen to its beepings. Once it’s screaming at you, you must throw a bolt at the yellow sludge. If you are correct, the Artifact will show up, but if you’re wrong, it will spit out fumes at you.
Once you have the object, you can exit by heading south and climbing the ladder. You will go out through an open well, and you can return to Squint to complete the Piece of Cake side quest.
Should You Give the Artifact To Squint?
As you may have already noticed, Squint is not a good man. He lied to you and killed a dying person to take their gear. Even his captain, Richter, won’t mind it if you kill this man. If you decide to give him the Mold Artifact, you will lose it, but he’ll give you the Ward Sensor. On the other hand, attacking him will force you to kill the man, but you can get the Artifact and the key item.
The choice isn’t really that obvious. While Squint is a bad guy, killing him will permanently remove the man from future quests. He will also foreshadow that you two may meet again if you give him the Artifact. The Mold is also not that valuable, and you can find better artifacts while playing the game.
During my playthrough, I decided to spare him since I was curious whether I would meet him or not in the future. I also had a better Artifact in my gear, so I did not need the Mold that much. However, I can’t deny that the thought of killing Squint crossed my mind several times during the Piece of Cake side quest.
