Star Wars Battlefront 3 is coming out, but not in the way you might think.
The story was broken by Kotaku that Frontwire studios, the folks behind the Battlefront 3 remake, are going to release the game upon completion. The studio currently has 50 members working on the project across the globe. It’ll go up on Steam for free, which will hopefully avoid any cease and desists from EA and Disney. Any DLC that is released will also be free.
Titled Galaxy in Turmoil, the game is being made in Unreal 3 and will feature the classic Battlefront gameplay that fans have clamoured for since the release of the second game in the series. The trailer shows troops and vehicles from both the original trilogy and the prequels. While few details are known about modes and maps, the game looks to uphold what made Battlefront 2 a resounding success back in 2005.
EA released an official sequel last year titled simply Star Wars Battlefront. It was well received critically for its outstanding visuals and solid gameplay but lost much of its player base due to a lack of content. Many were hoping for an experience that had more in common with Battlefront 2. Hopefully, Galaxy in Turmoil will scratch that itch.
