Ubisoft’s upcoming Star Wars Outlaws showed Jabba the Hutt in its recent story trailer, but it turns out, that the mission is not available in the standard game, and will only be playable for people who have the season pass or have purchased the premium edition of the game.
The Star Wars Outlaws website explains that the game’s Season Pass will have two more story expansions after launch, along with some cosmetic items. While that makes complete sense, having day 1 exclusive DLC called Jabba’s Gambit, does not. The content is already developed and is being put behind a paywall even after showing it in the game’s official story trailer. This will probably not sit well with fans.
Star Wars Outlaws Jabba the Hutt Mission Will Only Be Available If You Get The Premium Edition
In the mission, Kay puts together a crew for the Canto Bight Heist and gets a job offer from Jabba the Hutt himself. ND-5 owes Jabba the Hutt from years ago and it’s time to pay him back. If the mission sounds fun and you plan on getting the standard edition for $70, you won’t be able to play it. It seems even $70 isn’t enough to buy a complete game in 2024.
The Gold Edition is for $109 and the Ultimate Edition is for $129, both editions have the season pass included and will give you access to the Jabba the Hutt mission. While season passes aren’t anything new, and most live-service games have them. The inclusion in a single-player game with day 1 DLC isn’t the best way to keep fans on your side. Especially in a world where games like God of War Ragnarok are getting massive free DLC expansions like Valhalla.
On the bright side, at least this means that Ubisoft will continue to support the game in the coming months with new content.
