Season two of Stranger Things is months away, but it’s detailed surrounding the sophomore season for the show have already begun to slip. The most important piece of information is that this season will be a lot darker and scarier than the first and that none of your favorite characters is safe.

The first season was bold enough to kill a couple of interesting side characters (sorry Barb) which angered some who liked the character, but in an interview with Deadline, David Harbour revealed that there are going to be a lot more parts of the season fans won’t particularly like.

“Some people are going to like strawberry and some people are going to like vanilla better,” Harbour said. “But you can’t try to recreate vanilla. We’re going to take a lot of risks. I think people are going to be pissed off by things. I think they are going to be elated and excited about things. It’s all further in terms of going on this journey.”

It can only be assumed that those risks involve killing off characters that are going to shock Stranger Things fans. Harbour goes on to describe that those risks stem from not wanting to fall into the sophomore slump that many shows hit after their first season, even when they catch lightning in a bottle like they did.

More importantly, he said that he was more afraid this season than he was the last one, whether it was for his character or the boys he didn’t say. Even if Hopper does bite the bullet, Harbour still has the upcoming Hellboy remake to look forward to at least.

Stranger Things

The second season of Stranger Things is set to follow the events and fallout from last season, including the return of Will Byers, and whatever he brought back from the upside down with him. The show is set to return to Netflix this Halloween, Oct 31, 2017.
