Last year, new details of Surviving Mars was announced in November which sparked interest among gamers. So much, in fact, Paradox Interactive, the publishers, have announced that the game will have full modding support for the PC platforms, and 4K on both the Xbox One X and PS4 Pro.

Paradox Interactive has also claimed that some mods will be available at launch by Paradox’s community creators. The trailer, which was released on February 1, 2018, does not show anything new about the game but is made for a comedic effect.

Surviving Mars - Release date reveal "Mysteries on Mars"

A premade colony is provided for players to try out if they wish to, seems to hold mysterious unidentified objects near the base. The objects are black cubes which levitate from the ground and they are suggested to be not a natural phenomenon. Players will be given a choice what to do with the cubes which are, destroying the cubes, store them away for future research, or use them to decorate your colony. This choice can affect the game and what happens in the end. This is an example of one ‘Mysteries’ that are in the game.

Throughout the games progress, dev diaries are being written up about the game and some hints into what the game will present to fans. The latest dev diary highlights the new trailer and other mysteries in the game. The community manager of Paradox Interactive, Susie McBeth, says:

“Without going too deep into spoilers territory, let’s just say that mysteries more often than not are centred on strange phenomena and alien artefacts. Clarke’s Rendezvous with Rama was our first inspiration, specifically the theme of encountering and exploring what is not only unknown but also possibly not entirely knowable.”

Surviving Mars will be available starting at a suggested retail price of $39.99 on all platforms. The game is set to release on March 15, 2018, on all platforms.
